Part of the heat for the greenhouses is sourced from the ground, reducing the use of fossil fuels. In addition, solar panels on the roofs provide part of the electricity supply and LED lighting is used almost entirely for plant growth. Heat and cold storage systems also make it possible to use energy efficiently for both heating and cooling.
Levoplant is also a co initiator of the development of the Potweb, an innovative solution to control pot worm in an environmentally friendly way within Phalaenopsis cultivation. This concept, developed together with Ter Laak, Opti flor and Solvent Engineering, was awarded the Greenovation Award 2023 from Royal FloraHolland.
