At Grootscholten, seasonal growing is an essential part of plant cultivation. By moving with the seasons, a logical and strong plant range is created that fits the time of year. This makes it possible to align the assortment with seasonal changes and current demand, allowing you to always work with the best products.

Plants that grow with the season

The assortment moves with the seasons. In spring, the range consists of around 50 different summer plants, with variation in colour and pot size. These include well known varieties such as Osteospermum and Calibrachoa, both perfectly suited to the season and time of year.

As the season changes, the assortment changes along with it. From August through March, the focus is on Cyclamen, with a deliberate choice for special varieties. In addition to red and white, several specials are grown, such as Merengue, Victoria, Fantasia and Djix.

Sustainable growing with an eye on the future

Sustainability is an important part of the nursery. The greenhouses at Grootscholten are heated using geothermal energy, supplied through the Aardwarmte Vogelaer project. This is heat extracted from deep within the earth and contributes to a sustainable way of heating.

In addition, the nursery works as much as possible with sustainably produced and reusable materials, while limiting waste. All with the aim of keeping the ecological footprint as small as possible and working together towards the future of the sector.
